Answer #1

The two systems involved in regulating blood volume are cardiovascular and renal systems.

Respiratory system is involved in maintaining pH of blood.

Cardiovascular system can regulate blood volume by many mechanisms.

i) Veins- Veins acta as capacitance vessels. So blood pressure and volume decreases veins contract releasing extra blood into circulation.

ii) Atrial natriuretic peptide - Sensors presene in the wall of atria and ventricles can sense the stretch of the walls. If there is overstretch it indicated high blood volume. So they secrete ANP which causes loss of sodium and water in urine ; normalizing blood volume.

iii) The heart rate ; contractility and cardiac output all can change in response to changes in blood volume and pressure.
