Answer #1

Sexual harassment is one of the biggest challenges in the workplace, it must be addressed by the employees as soon as they experience it. It must be reported to the concerned authorities. Even before this happens they must draft a sexual harassment policy in detail with all the repercussions and communicate it to the employees as it is a serious issue and must be handled strictly. In case any such issue arises at the workplace the Human Resources Manager (HRM) must take the following steps:

  • Gather in detail information about the incident like the complete details about the complainant and the accused person. This will also include information about the incident and any witnesses if present there during the incident.
  • Depending on the severity of the case HR can take various courses of actions like:
  1. Having one on one discussion with the accused person and understanding their side as well.
  2. If the matter is clear, the witnesses have given their statement and the accused also accepts his fault and the case doesn't require any further investigation the accused employee can be fired from the job as allowing to continue the job will hamper the organization's image.
  3. If the case involves any criminal behavior, it must be reported to the legal authorities accordingly and they can take further action.

Thus, depending on the severity of the case HR will have to take the action.
