Ans 5) It is observed that the different strains of Drosophila has different level of pteridine. Biopterin is only present in the Rosy type of Drosophila, Hydroxypteridine is present in both the wild type and the scarlet type, Xanthopterin is present in sepia and the Drosopterin is present in wild type, scarlet and rosy. This clearly indicates that all types of pteridines is not present in all variants. On making an analysis it is found that that the wild-type and scarlet consists of two pteridine pigments which are hydroxypteridine and drosopterin. The rosy contains biopterin and drosopterin. The maximum pigment that the variants as well as the wild type have is two which clearly indicates that no strain has excess of the pigments. The scarlet has exactly the same pigment to the wild-type and hence the phenotypic characteristics pertaining to the pigments are also expected to be same.
Please include a detailed explanation for #5 so I can understand. Thanks Pigment Table x-means rts...
