Answer #1

Both compounds can be differentiated by making their 2,4-DNP or senicarbazone derivatives.

On heating compound with 2,4-dinitrophenol or semicarbazide we get solid derivative. Melting point of derivatives of valeraldehyde and crotonaldehyde are different hence they can be identified.
