3.Ans :- Option (D) i.e. Seesaw is the answer.

Molecular geometry is the geometry which only includes the bond pairs of electrons and do not includes the lone pairs of electrons i.e. lone pairs are excluded while writing the molecular geometry. On the other hand electron geometry is the geometry which includes both bond pairs and lone pairs of electrons.

Given,

Number of single bonds = 4

and

Number of lone pairs = 1

Therefore,

Number of electron domains = Number of bond pairs + Number of lone pairs

= 4 + 1

= 5

The hybridization of the given molecule is = sp3d

Electron geometry = Trigonal bipyramidal

and

Molecular geometry by excluded lone pair = Seesaw.

For example in SF4, there are 4 single S-F bonds and one lone pair in S.
