(a) Name of the compound is:

CH3 CHCH2CH3 4 5 6 Hс, н (E)-4-methylhex-2-ene

Here, you can see that the parent chain is of six carbon and branching (methyl) at the fourth carbon and functional group (alkene) starts at second carbon. That why name of alkene is (E)-4-methylhex-2-ene.

(b) Name of the compound is:

H3C CH2CH3 H3CHCH2CH2CHC 8 7 6 5 4 H3 27 73 H2CH (Z)-4-ethyl-3,7-dimethyloct-2-ene

You write name of the alkene is (Z)-4-ethyl-3,7-dimethyl-2-octene only. I think answer given is wrong.
