Ionic formula made from Beryllium and iodine is BeI2​​​  

Beryllium is a group 2 element with 2 electrons in 2s orbital.

And Iodine is a group 17 element with 5 electrons in 5p orbital.

Ionic compounds are formed by interaction between two charged ions.

Beryllium is a metal and losses 2 electrons to form a cation with +2 charge.

Iodine requires 1 electron to complete it's octate , so 2 Iodine element gain electron losses by Beryllium and form Iodide ion and because of attraction form BeI​​​​2​​​ .
