Answer #1

1.

SiF62-

Number of valence electrons (whole structure).

Si = 4

6F = 6×7 = 42

2 negative charge = 2

Total = (4+42+2) = 48.

Area of electron density around central atom

= 6.

Electron geometry is octahedral.

Bonding areas = 6

Nonbonding areas = 0.

Molecular geometry is octahedral

Bond angle 900

Si-F bond is polar.

But molecule is nonpolar due to symmetry in the molecule.

No pi bond is present.

2.

H2S

Number of valence electrons

S = 6

2H = 2

Total = (6+2) = 8.

Area of electron Electron density around central atom = 4

Electron geometry is tetrahedral

Bonding areas = 2

Nonbonding areas = 2

Molecular geometry is bent or angular.

Bond angle is 920 (less than idesl bond angle due to lone pair -bond pair repulsion).

S-H bond is polar.

Due to presence of two nonbonding electron pair and bent shape the molecule is polar.

No pi bond is present
