A student prepared a solution by filling the flask with water to the etch mark and then adding the solid to the flask. Explain what the student did that was not correct. Would this solution be ok to use? Why or why not (Hint: Does the solid take up space in the flask)?
The procedure followed by the student in making the solution is not accurate because he has already added water upto mark and when he add solid in it then the solid will occupy some space and hence some volume in the flask.
Due to this reason the solution made by student is not suitable for use.
Hope this helps you

2. I. M. Fumblefingers determined the mass of a 100 mL volumetric flask but did not notice that it contained about 1 mL of water. Fumblefingers then prepared an 8% sugar solution by transferring 8.00 g of sugar to the flask and filling to the mark with distilled water. I. M. then determined the mass of the flask plus the 8% sugar solution. a. Will the concentration of the solution be higher, lower, or no different from the correct value?...
A student weighs out 14.6 g of AlBrz, transfers it to a 300 mL volumetric flask, adds enough water to dissolve the solid and then adds water to the 300 mL mark on the neck of the flask. Calculate the concentration (in molarity units) of aluminum bromide in the resulting solution? Calculate the mass, in grams of sodium iodide that must be added to a 250 mL volumetric flask in order to prepare 250 mL of a 0.138 M aqueous...

Calculate the concentration of a solution prepared by adding 15.00 mL of 1.98 x 10-3M KMnO, from a buret into a 50.00 mL volumetric flask, which is then filled to the 50.00 mL graduation...
In lab you determine the mass of an empty Erlenmeyer flask to be 53.5g. After adding metal, the mass of the flask is now 95.6g. After filling the flask up to the top with water, its mass is now 130.0g You then empty the flask and refill it entirely with water. The mass of the flask full of water is 103.5g What is the density of the metal in g/ml? (The density of water is 1.00g/ml). You have 865g of...
Please answer Amadeo quantitatively transferred a precise mass of potassium dichromate to a flask. He swirled the flask after filling the flask halfway with deion calibration mark. Then he diluted to the mark, adding water above the calibration mark. How would Amadeo's calculated K2Cr20 molarity compare to the actual value? Explain. (Hint: Write the generic calculation (no numbers needed) and show where and how the calculation is affected).
A penny having a mass of 2.5340 g was dissolved in 20 mL of 8 M HNO3. The resulting solution was transferred to a 100.00-ml volumetric flask and diluted to the mark with water. Then, a sample solution was prepared by transferring 10.00 mL of this solution to a 25.00- ml volumetric flask, adding 2.00 mL of 15 M NH3 and diluting to the mark with waterThe concentration of [Cu(NH3)4]2+ in the sample solution (determined using a Spectro Vis spectrophotometer)...
A solution of sodium was prepared by dissolving 0.0309 g of NaCl in distilled deionized water and brought up to the mark in a 200 mL volumetric flask. 10.0 mL of this solution was diluted to 250.0 mL. What is the concentration (ppm) of sodium the final solution
A student placed 16.0 g of glucose (C6H1206) in a volumetric flask, added enough water to dissolve the glucose by swirling, then carefully added additional water until the 100. mL mark on the neck of the flask was reached.
