From the figure given in the question, compass needle is rotating in counter-clockwise direction.

Now, use the right-hand rule to identify the direction of magnetic field at the desired location. From right hand rule, point the thumb in the direction of current and curl the fingers around the line passing through the thumb. The curling direction of the fingers will give the direction of magnetic field.

Since the direction of rotation of the compass needle is counter-clockwise, the direction of magnetic field would also be in counter-clockwise direction.

So, the possible direction of current from right-hand rule must be out of the screen.
