Answer #1

(a)

Ethyl amine (CH3CH2NH2) reacts with HCl to give ethylammonium chloride. Primary amine group of ethyl amine is basic in nature and reacts with acidic HCl to form quaternary ammonium chloride salt. The chemical reaction is as shown below:

CH3CH2NH2 anschone wiat — + HCI CH,CHÚNăH Clº anoble e r Ethyl amine landet Ethylammonium chloride

(b)

Diethyl amine ((CH3CH2)2NH) reacts with HCl to give diethylammonium chloride. Secondary amine group of diethyl amine is basic in nature and reacts with acidic HCl to form quaternary ammonium chloride salt. The chemical reaction is as shown below:

H (CH3CH2)2NH + C CH3CH_ N HCI mon — reasons pour H ausenden op Diethyl amine CH2CH2 Diethylammonium chloride

(c)

Triethyl amine ((CH3CH2)3N) reacts with HCl to give Triethylammonium chloride. Tertiary amine group of triethyl amine is basic in nature and reacts with acidic HCl to form quaternary ammonium chloride salt. The chemical reaction is as shown below:

CH2CH3 (CH2CH2)2N + HCI CH,CHÚN®—H Triethyl amine CH2CH3 Triethylammonium chloride
