Macrolide Antibiotic a class of antibiotics which includes Erythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin and fidaxomicin. It is isolated from Streptomyces strain of bacteria. The mode of action is to inhibit protein synthesis by blocking the 50S ribosomal unit. This antibiotic is a bacteriostatic antibiotic so it inhibits bacterial growth and generally used to treat Gram-positive bacterial infection like Streptococcus pneumonia and some gram-negative bacterial infection like Haemophilus Influenzae, So During pregnancy Doctors Generally, Prescribe it to treat bacterial infection, but in most of the cases it is found that if Pregnant woman takes it at pregnancy so it may be possible her infant born with birth defects.

If a pregnant woman takes this drug at any time of pregnancy so there is a chance that newborn may be born with Malformed genitals and if woman take it early stage of pregnancy is associated with a high risk of a defect of any kind of birth defect that is not clearly reported what kind of disorder has seen in a newborn but child may be born with one of the birth defects like Cerebral palsy, Epilepsy, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and Autism spectrum disorder.
