Antigen processing is an immunological process by which pathogens and their products are degraded to produce peptide antigens. The pathway of antigen processing is of 2 types endogenous and exogenous and are mediated by class I MHC and class II MHC found on the surface of antigen presenting cells respectively. The MHC and peptide antigen form complex and travels to the cells surface where it displace peptide fragments to the T-cells called antigen presentation. In endogenous pathway the antigens are present inside cells and in exogenous pathway the antigens are present outside the cells.
b)The two professional antigen presenting cells are dendritic cells and B-cells.
The unique characteristics of dendritic cell are:
1)They have a unique capacity to activate and differentiate naive T-lymphocytes.
2)They are developed from myloid progenitor and lymphoid tissues.
The unique characteristics of B-cells are :
1)B cells are a type of white blood cells and only cell which secreate antibodies.
2)They are involved in adaptive immunity and when they encounters with an antigen the B-cells differenitate into effector and Memory B-cell
