Answer 7b- The population-1 has higher variance in height and weight as compared to population-2, which sauggests that population-1 must be having higher genetic variations. Genetic variation within a population can be measured by taking account of the number of different alleles of the genes (here genes responsible for height and weight) and the frequency with which they appear. Variation will be high when there are many different allelic forms of genes encoding height and weight phenotypes and when there are many different combinations of those alleles. Thus global gene pool represents all the allelic forms present in a species. Population with higher variance (higher genetic variations) represents global gene pool better than population with low variance. Therefore population-1, in this case, is a better representation of global gene pool that population-2.
