A. Mayfly lays eggs in summer in the river. They remain viable during autumn upto spring. In spring the eggs mature into lerva and during this tenure the larva migrate to the floodplanes. In floodplanes, the larva mature fully into adults by summer. In summer these adults agains lay eggs in the river. These eggs remain viable during summer and autumn but during winter they again mature into larva. And this cycle continues.

B. Adults stone flies lay egges in spring in stream of water. Eggs mature into larva before the onset of summer. During the tenure of summer and autumn they remain live even dry stream. By winter when the stream starts flowing the river, the larva matures into adults by spring. And in spring the adults lay eggs.

Most of life stages of mayflies are spent in their egg stage whereas larva stage is dominant in life cycle of stone flies.
