Due to its anatomic and physiologic similarities with humans,the minature pig is a preferred pre-clinical model in several areas including pediatric nutrition, toxicology, pharmacology, experimental surgery, pulmonology, cardiology, xenotransplantation,dental and orofacial research and organ transplant surgery .
