These signalling molecules help in cell communication and send a variety of factors to the site of inflammation or infection. Cytokines include interleukins, interferons. T helper cells also aid in the secretion of factors called cytokines which in turn help in activating B cells, macrophages. Both types of immune responses require cytokines for activation.
