Label all chromosomes with specific alleles of the marker, using D1for the allele detected by the lower band and D2for the allele detected by the upper band on the gel, so that they have a genotype that would produce the gel shown.
I'm no quite getting what corresponds with the D1/D2 labels.
Every gene or DNA marker will have one pair of alleles associated with it. These alleles are being labeled as D1/D2 here. In the genotyping result, parents have two bands while the child shows only one thicker band.
So, from this information, you have to deduce which alleles have been passed on to the child by each of the parents. From the gel image, you should be able to tell which allele-either D1 or D2 is present in the child.

can someone please help me with this ?
Practice Using a Punnett Square. Punnett Squares are tools to identify outcomes known genotypes. They can be used to help infer probabilities of genotypes and from a particular cross. of possible crosses between individuals of phenotypes amongst offspring lele forms "A" and "a". A woman is heterozygous, so she can produce eggs with Consider a gene with all 9. and Write them across the top of the Punnett Square below the following...
In a routine prenatal screen, a clinical researcher finds that
the karyotype of cells derived from a fetus shows potential trisomy
(one of the chromosomes is present in 3 copies). It is not clear
whether the extra chromosome is chromosome 6 or 7 (because
chromosome 6 and 7 are quite similar in a simple chromosome spread
analysis). To determine whether the extra chromosome is chromosome
6 or 7, the researcher performs polymerase chain reaction followed
by RFLP analysis using DNA...

2. A dominant allele H reduces the number of body bristles that Drosophila flies have, giving rise to a “hairless” phenotype. In the homozygous condition, H is lethal. An independently assorting dominant allele S has no effect on bristle number except in the presence of H, in which case a single dose of S suppresses the hairless phenotype, thus restoring the "hairy" phenotype. However, S also is lethal in the homozygous (S/S) condition. What ratio of hairy to hairless flies...

diabetes in this article
Exposure to arsenic in drinking water is associated with increased prevalence of diabetes. We previously reported an association of diabetes and urinary concentration of dimethylarsinite (DMAS"), a toxic product of arsenic methylation by arsenic (+ 3 oxidation state) methyltransferase (AS3MT). Here we examine associations between AS3MT polymorphism, arsenic metabolism and diabetes. Fasting blood glucose, oral glucose tolerance and self-reported diagnoses were used to identify diabetic individuals. Inorganic...
