Answer #1

1 ) Static electricity is an system of electric charges within the surface of a material. The charge remains till , it is able to move away by means of an electric current. It is also known as contrast with current electricity, which flows in the wires or other conductors and transmits energy.

2). Coloumb is the unit of charge and quantisation of charge is given by q= ne, where e is 1.6 × 10-19 . So with this formulae we can calculate number of electrons for 1 coloumb. They will be equal to 6.25 × 1018.

3).

When the ground is hot, the air above it gets heated up and rises. As it rises up, vapours cool and form a cloud. As air continues to rise, the cloud gets bigger. At the top of these clouds, temperature is below freezing and the vapour turns into ice. These small bits of ice collide with each other while moving around. All these collisions cause a build up of electrical charge.

As the whole cloud fills up with charges. The lighter, positively charged particles go to the top of the cloud. Heavier, negatively charged particles sink towards bottom. When these positive and negative charges grow large, a giant spark occurs between the two charges within the cloud called lightening.
