4) Briefly explain each of the following hypotheses:
- The African replacement
- Hybridization and assimilation
- Multiregional evolution
Make sure to evidence that helps support or refute each of the hypothesis, indicating which one is the best.
The African replacement - This Hypothesis suggests that human evolution to homo sapiens occured in the continent of africa and then migrated to the rest of the old world. This group of modern humans replaced the earlier species of humans which migrated from Africa previously.
Eg: Homo erectus left africa much before homo sapiens did ( hundreds of years ) It concludes that all humans in the modern world came from Africa.
Hybridization and assimilation - It states that modern homo sapiens evolved in Africa. From their they migrated to other parts of the world replacing the ancient species living in that region where they moved to eg. homo sapiens migrating to parts of Asia and Europe
Multiregional evolution - It states that homo sapiens evolved from homo eructus outside of African subcontinent. It also suggests that it was homo eructus that slowly wandered out of Africa and inhabitated other regions.
Eg : current people of India( homo sapiens ) getting evolved from evolved from the homo erectus that moved to India.
