Answer #1

Question 1.2

Answer: Option c. This is a manipulative experiment.

Explanation:

Comparison of the productivity of tomato plants on the basis of two concentrations of organic fertilizers is a manipulative experimental study as the experiment involves the manipulation of the concentration of organic fertilizer in the study in order to find its impact on tomato plants and find and discover a causal relationship between both of these.

In manipulative experiments, a variable is altered to observe its effect on another relative variable. In this case, the variable is the concentrations of organic fertilizers and its effect is on the relative variable i.e, growth of tomato plants.

The experiment has a variable which is not naturally present. i.e, organic fertilizers are not natural. So, it is not a natural experiment. Also, this is not a natural phenomenon as it involves synthetic variable i.e, Organic fertilizer which is not made available in readymade condition for plants in nature.

The experiment is not a double-blinded experiment as the experimenter knows the determinant on which experiments are performed are the tomato plants and the variable is the two concentrations of organic fertilizers.

Question 1.3

Answer: Option c and d.

Explanation:

In the experiment, the independent variable is the variable whose value if changed would affect its dependent variable. Here if the concentration of fertilizers is changed then productivity of tomato plant would e affected.

Thus, concentrations of organic fertilizer are the independent variable and its dependent variable is the productivity of tomato plants.

Option b would have been correct if it stated two different fertilizer CONCENTRATIONS instead of two different fertilizers. (Note if only 1 option must be correct then it should be marked as option B.) Although both option c and d are also correct.
