· Protists microscopic unicellular highly organised with the nucleus and specialised cellular machinery called organelles

· They are heterotrophs and ingest food by phagocytic while others photoautotrophs store energy via photosynthesis.

· Their movement are motile with Cilia ,flagella or pseudopodia

· Nearly all protists exist in aquatic environment including freshwater and marine water damp soil and even in snow .

· Aquatic protists –eg.,paramecium.

· Some protists can infect animals or plants they are parasite and thefore live in their host

· Amoeba can be human parasite that can cause dysentery while inhabiting the small intestine

· Some are parasite can function as Slime mold eg.,dictyostelium -damp soil of forest

· Some act as plasmodial Slime mold .

· Plasmodium upon maturation takes on net like appearance with the ability to form fruiting bodies a sporangia during the times of stress and later produced diploid zygomatic to complete the life cycle

· Sometime Slime molds act on bacteria and fungi and contribute to the decomposition of Dead plants
