The terrestial microbes play diverse roles in the terrestial environment. These role played by these microbes include:

I. Many bacteria and fungi are decomposers that feed on dead decaying waste materials and help to clean the environment.

II. Microbes are used in food industry to in the fermentation of dairy product and also to increase the flavor of the food.

III. Microbes are used in biotechnology industry to produce useful biological products like antibiotics, vaacine in large scale.

IV. Microbes are used to increase the soil fertility.

V. Microbes like rhizobium bacteria help in the fixation of atmospheric nitrogen by plants.

VI. Useful microbes also live in the gut of humans and aid in their digestion and other function of the body.
