A redox reaction is a chemical transformation in which one substrate is oxidized and the other substrate is reduced.

Oxidation = Loss of electrons or increase in oxidation number
Reduction = Gain of electrons or decrease in oxidation number

Glycolysis:
It is the first step in the respiration that involves oxidation of one glucose molecule to two pyruvate molecules.
Substrates: Glucose, 2 ADP, 2 Pi, and 2 NAD+
Products: 2 Pyruvate, 2 ATP, and 2 NADH
