1. Water has high heat of vaporization. This is because it has lot of hydrogen bonds and to break these bonds, it requires lot of heat. Once the hydrogen bonds are broken, water will become vapour. This property of water helps in keeping the climate of the earth constant.
It is TRUE.
2. Increased CO2 in the air is leading to ocean acidification. It is TRUE. because, CO2 which is dissolving excessively in water, forms H2CO3 (carbonic acid). This carbonic acid dissociates to form H+ and HCO3- ions. Increased H+ ions in the ocean waters results in acidification of the waters.
3. Addition of methyl group to a hydrocarbon does not make it more polar. A methyl molecule has C and 3 H atoms which can't form any bonds with water. So it is non-polar.
It is FALSE statement.
4. Hydrogen bonds with in the molecule influences the shape of the molecule. As in the case of proteins, the polypeptide molecule develops many hydrogen bonds between hydrogen and any electronegative atom in the molecule to give secondary or tertiary structure to the polypeptide making it functional protein.
It is TRUE statement.
Water has a relatively high heat of vaporization. This allows water to absorb a lot of...
Water has an unusually high specific heat. In other words, water can absorb or release a large quantity of heat without its own temperature changing significantly. Considering this information, how might one explain the following phenomenap! 1. True/False. The Styrofoam coffee cup calorimeter actually absorbs some energy. 2. An releases energy

For the preparation and standardization of NaOH with KHP im supposed to boil water for 1hr and 30 min to remove CO2....the problem is that if I don't boil it for that long and (30 min) b/c of not enough time but I put the water I boiled for 1/2 hr aproximately into a NaOH bottle with a CO2 absorber and stored it there for a few days. I would assume that I would have to boil the water again...but...
