activated carriers are molecules that can store energy, and can release the energy when required. activated carriers can capture the energy in the chemical bonds or take energy-carrying electron during the catabolic reactions so that energy is not released as heat and in the anabolic reactions which requires energy it can provide energy.

NADH and ATP are two activated carriers produced in glycolysis.

ATP carries energy in the phosphounhydride bonds.

NADH carries high energy electrons.
