The direct and indirect contributions of ecosystems to our humans for well- being are known as Ecosystem services. They gives us support directly or indirectly to our survival and quality of life. Ecosystem services are divided into four main types: 1. Provisioning services- These are the products obtained from ecosystem. eg, food, fiber, genetic resources, medicines, wood, water etc.
2.Regulating services-The benefits obtained from the regulation of ecosystem processes such as climate regulation, natural hazard regulation, water purification and waste management, pollination or pest control.
3. Habitat services-It's responsible for ecosystems to provide habitat for migratory birds and to maintain the viability of gene-pools.
4. Cultural services-It's mainly concerned with spiritual enrichment, intellectual development, recreation and aesthetic values.
Losing a few plants and animals can be one of the concern but not only that we human being will lose many things by destroying the tropical forests, we risk our own quality of life , the climate will be changed and threaten the existence of some other species as well. The most important and immediate impact will occur at the local level with the loss of ecological services provided by tropical rainforests and related ecesystems. Such habitats afford services like erosion prevention, flood control, water filtration and pollination. It will impact to poorest people who rely on natural resources for their everyday survival. It also makes to reduce renewable resources like timber, medicinal plants, fruits and nuts.
Climate Change is very harder and more rapidly than what we expected. Natural disasters are becomimg more intense and more frequent, and there was unprecedented extreme weather throughout the world. Alarmingly, global temperatures are increasing by 3 degree towards the end of the century. ie 2 times the climate experts have warned. Some of the effects of climate change could be increased heat, drought and insect outbreaks, increased wild fires, reduced agricultural yields, health impacts in cities, flooding and erosion.
