Answer #1

there are 3 alleles which determines the phenotype.

we can can have True breeding grey, true bredding black, true breeding grey , means the alleles are white, black and grey.

let the alleles be B-black, G-Grey, W- white

BB-black, GG-Grey WW-white

progeny of black and grey are slate so BG- slate

progeny of white and grey are silver so WG- silver

there are only six phenotypes, the next genotype is WB its phenotype is steel.

Steel * Silver

WB * WG

W B
W WW( white) WB ( steel)
G WG (Silver) BG ( slate)

so the proportion is

1/4 white, 1/4 silver, 1/4 slate, 1/4 steel

so the answer is B) 1/4 white, 1/4 silver, 1/4 slate, 1/4 steel

    3. Consider two traits for a hypothetical animal fur color and ear length. Each trait is controlled by one gene with two alleles. Black fur is dominant to gray fur and long ears are dominant to short. The genes for the two traits are located on different chromosomes. Note: In the following problems, you need to take both traits into account simultaneously a. You cross a true breeding black long-eared male with a true-breeding gray short-eared female. What is the...
