Answer #1

In this case the sprinters run quite a short distance during the race but their body is unable to accumulate enough oxygen to accomodate muscles during the race so they respire using the anaerobic respiration during their race. Much less ATP only 2 is produced by the process of glycolysis in case of the anaerobic respiration but the process of production of ATP is very fast in the muscles as the number of steps are low compared to the aerobic type. So a lot of ATP is produced and the muscle can sustain the race.

So considering this fact the sprinters will go for more anaerobic exercise training compared to the sprinters.

Question 5 A recent case-control study compared the consumption of vitamins among those who infected with season influenza (cases) and those not affected by seasonal influenza (controls). The calculated odds ratios was. 0.61. The 95% confidence interval was 0.49-0.73. The most accurate interpretation of this result is: People who consume vitamins are 0.61 times more likely to contract seasonal influenza than those who do not consume vitamin. People who consume vitamins are 39% less likely to contract seasonal influenza than...

    1. A closer look - Muscles and their role in health and energy needs of athletes Skeletal muscles, which move bones, consist of cells fused into long fibers. These muscle fibers can increase in size when contracted, which is what happens as a result of some exercise. This animation shows the structure of vertebrate skeletal muscles. It starts at a large scale, showing the muscles of a human upper arm, and then gradually zooms in to smaller and smaller levels,...

Which of the following statements best describes the difference between aerobic and anaerobic metabolism? Check all that apply. - Anaerobic metabolism produces more ATP than aerobic metabolism. - Anaerobic metabolism produces less ATP than aerobic metabolism. - Only aerobic metabolism can occur in the absence of oxygen. - Anaerobic metabolism does not produce lactate while aerobic metabolism does. - Both anaerobic and aerobic metabolism run through glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and the electron transport chain. - Only anaerobic metabolism can occur...

ey were compared by recording wrist extension in degrees for 24 people who each used both mouse designs. The difference in wrist extension was calculated by subtracting extension for mouse type from the wrist extension for mouse type A for each person. The mean difference was reported to be 0.02 degrees. Assume that this sample of 24 people is representative of the population of computer users USE SALT (a) Suppose that the standard deviation of the differences was 14 degrees....
