Describe why high temperature increases photorespiration in C3 plants (Hint: your answer should involve stomata and carbon dioxide). How do C4 plants avoid photorespiration?

At high temperature , the solubility of carbon dioxide in stroma decreases and thus more oxygen is available in the stroma for photorespiration.Thus RuBisco fixes more oxygen than carbon dioxide causing photorespiration. In C4 plant , carbon fixation occurs in two stage - first stage occurs in mesophyll cell where carbon dioxide is fixed using phosphoenol pyruvate into a four carbon compound . This 4 carbon compound moves to bundle sheath where second stage occurs and releases carbon dioxide thus concentrating carbon dioxide in bundlesheath cell .
