3. Oxygen can be toxic to the cell as prolonged or exposure to too much of oxygen reacts with the cells on the molecular level. The oxygen molecule lose an electron from their orbit forming a free radical. These free radicals are highly reactive and toxic in nature , they have deleterious effects like making the cell unstable, destroying the cell organelles, denaturing the DNA and the proteins that ultimately lead to Cell Dealth.

4. Aerobic organisms (organisms that need oxygen for survival) have specialised enzyme systems like enzyme catalase that are capable pf detoxification of the oxygen, while some live in anerobic micorhabitats to escape oxidative stress.

5.Thioglycolate tubes are multipurpose, enriched, differential medium used primarily to determine the oxygen requirements of microorganisms. Sodium thioglycolate allows the growth of all the oligate anerobes by consuming all the oxygen in the medium, an indicator named Resazurin is added which is pink when oxidized and colorless with reduced .The appearance of pink band indicates presence of oxygen in the tube, if at top it indicates presence of oxygen only at the top of the tube
