Electrical synapse have connections through connexins. it is unidirectional but cannot be amplified. Due to connections there is no synaptic delay. On the other hand chemical synapse have gap between two neurons. neurotransmitters are secreted in between the gap and these signals are transported through the channels. this method is metaboically expensive. signals are amplified as micromoles of growth harmones can promote growth of whole body. synaptic delay is present because of the gap.
