Answer #1

the genotype of the translocation carrier is 14, 21, 14/21

the possible gametes are (14,21), (14/21), ( 21), ( 14, 14/21), ( 14), (21, 14/21).

if these gametes are fertilized with normal sperm genotype of the offspring are

(14,21,14,21)- normal, viable

(14/21,14,21)- viable, carrier of Robertsonian translocation

( 21, 21,14)- monosomy of 14, not viable.

( 14, 14/21,14, 21)- trisomy of 14, not viable

( 14, 14,21)-monosomy of 21, not viable

(21, 14/21,14, 21)- Down syndrome, viable

Viable normal, or translocation carrier Viable, with Down syndrome Inviable two normal copies of 21, two normal copies of 14

The figure shows the cross-shaped chromosome pairing that forms during meiosis in a translocation heterozygote. The diagram shows two pairs of homologous chromosomes. Chromosome 1 is red and normally has genes A, B, C, D, E, and F. Chromosome 2 is blue and normally has genes P, Q, R, S, T, and U. The chromosomes labeled Mand N2 have the normal complement of genes in the correct order. The chromosomes labeled 71 and 72 have a reciprocal translocation. Complete the...

Can I have help with this question, please? I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Thanks! Suppose that a heterozygous mouse has been bred with four genes of interest, Agouti, Foxa2, Rhoa, and CCR5 on two different chromosomes. The Agouti phenotype is coded by an autosomal recessive allele, ag. The Foxa2 phenotype is coded by an autosomal recessive allele, f. The Agouti and Foxa2 genes are found in a cis conformation on chromosome 2. On chromosome 9, both the...
