After you have done the research to complete the extra credit assignment, use that information to discuss and answer the following questions related to HIV/AIDS epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa.


1. Given the dramatic number of deaths occurring, what sorts of ecomonic impacts will this epidemic have on the region?

2. What can be done to slow the spread of HIV in these countries?

3. Should other countries be concerned with providing aid to Africa to fight the HIV epidemic?

1- a- reduced labour supply. The HIV / AIDS pandemic have lower the labour supply due to increased mortality and morbidity.

b- reduced labour productivity. Due to continuous illness , the labour efficiency decrease.

c -reduced exports and increases imports . Lower domestic productivity decreased exports , expensive healthcare goods increased imports.

d- affect national growth rate decreasing it.

2- HIV spread through semen , vaginal fluids , blood and breast milk. So , the spread can be prevented by -

a- having protected sex using condoms.

b- do not share needles.

c- for using effective antiretroviral drugs to avoid spread.

D -if you are pregnant , go and check for HIV to prevent to baby to have it.

3- yes , other countries should be concerned in providing aid in HIV as epidemic disease spread can be dangerous and to prevent it's spread to other countries , it should be treated as soon as possible. Therefore , other countries should provide funds and financial help to country.
