McDonald's has faced enormous criticism across the world since the 1980s.Nutritionists and healthy-eating campaigners continue to roundly criticize the company for its standard fare of high calorie burgers and fries that many see as a major cause of spiralling obesity rates, especially among young people.

To face such events McDonald's decided to launch a substantial turnaround strategy in 2003, where the firm dropped its supersizing options, and put a range of new healthy options on the menu. McDonald's also launched a swathe of exercise and sports initiative especially targeted at young people promoting under the theme of 'balanced lifestyles'. McDonald's partnered with DFB, the german football club and provide soccer badge for children and young people. McDonald's strategy appears to be successful and they build a trust among the people.

McDonald's announced that it would start offering healthy options as part of 'value meals' in all its 20 global market by 2020. The company will simultaneously announced plans to promote market only water, milk and juice as the beverages in its children's Happy Meals.
