Cancer cannot be said as an umbrella term for wide variety of diseases.its an abnormal cell division leading to tumors.Cancer has reported in both old age, middle aged and in kids.so its not an age related problem. Appearance of cancer may be due to inheritance or it can also occur by epigenetic modifications
