would either of these three drugs cause/ aggravate ulcers?
1. Spironolactone, could impair the healing of gastric or duodenal erosions and result in the formation of gastroduodenal ulcers, with or without bleeding.
2. Sertraline (Zoloft) is a Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, and have been associated with an increased risk of stomach ulcers. The chance of developing ulcers is even higher if you take NSAID and SSRI drugs together.
3. High doses (50 mg or more) of niacin can cause side effects. The most common side effect is called "niacin flush," which is a burning, tingling sensation in the face and chest, and red or flushed skin. At very high doses, used to lower cholesterol and treat other conditions, liver damage and stomach ulcers can occur.
So all three can cause ulcers.
