Answer #1

ANSWER 5 :-

  1. First of all, if the process of non-disjunction is occuring, there will be production of a tetraploid organism depending upon the inability of chromosome to separate.
  2. Lets consider the plant 1, there is a diploid set consisting of 10 chromomes and the haploid gametes will segregate as haploid cells having 5 chromosomes. Plant 2 on the other hand will show the presence of 7 chromosomes in a haploid gamete cell thereby if the non-disjunction event is occuring, there will be a total of 2 [(5 x 2) + (7 x 2)] which corresponds to around 48 chromosomes each set of haploid composed of (5+7 = 12) chromosomes.
  3. So, the correct answer is 48 and the correct option is 'C'.

ANSWER 6 :-

  1. In this case, plant 1 shows presence of 12 chromosomes in diploid state and plant 2 shows presence of 16 chromosomes thereby contributing 6 and 8 chromosomes respectively as a haploid gamete.
  2. Taking into consideration the new individual which will be formed will have (8+6=14) chromosomes and if non-disjunction event occurs, the tetraploid individual will show presence of 56 chromosomes (4 x 14 = 56) and thus option 'D' is the most appropriate answer.
