This is not correct.
I explain it you with an simple example :
A cross between pure homozygous tall pea plants and pure homozygous dwarf pea plants.
Alleles for tall homozygous =TT
Alleles for dwarf homozygous = tt
Parents ( population ) TT * tt
Gametes = T , T and t, t
PF1 progeny TT ,Tt, Tt and tt
TT , Tt, Tt = tall pea plants as T is dominant over t
tt = dwarf ( 25% of whole phenotypically )
But the allele responsible for dwarfness is 50% in the population
Tt, Tt, Tt, tt
50% are T and 50% are t
If 25% of the individuals in a population have the recessive trait, does that mean that...
4. If 81% of a population is homozygous recessive for a given trait....... What is the predicted frequency of homozygous dominant? What is the predicted frequency of heterozygotes? What is the frequency of the dominant and recessive alleles in the population?
1)Dimples is a dominant trait and represented as “D”. No Dimples is a recessive trait and represented as “d”. The dimples/no dimples alleles follow Mendelian genetics. What is the genotype of an individual who is heterozygous for the dimples trait? Dd DD dd Dimples No dimples 2) Dimples is a dominant trait and represented as “D”. No Dimples is a recessive trait and represented as “d”. The dimples/no dimples alleles follow Mendelian genetics. Person A has dimples and is homozygous...
Hemophilia is an x-linked recessive trait. In a population of 2000 people, 4 women have hemophilia, 30 men have hemophilia, and 80 are carriers of the disorder. What is the frequency of the hemophilia allele? (Assume the population is 50% men and 50% women.) a.0.059 b.0.033 c.0.057 d.0.039 e.0.038 In a population of 15,000 individuals, 1350 express a recessive trait. How many heterozygotes are there expected to be? a.2100 b.3150 c.6300 d.1800 e.4200
In a population that is in Hardy Weinberg equilibrium, 49% of the individuals are recessive homozygotes for a certain trait. In a population of 5500, calculate the following: a) The number of homozygous recessive individuals in the population b) The number of heterozygotes in the population
Consider the following scenario: In a population of 1000 individuals, 490 are homozygous dominant, 420 are heterozygous, and 90 are homozygous recessive. Answer the following questions about this population. How many total alleles does this population have? How many dominant alleles does this population have? How many recessive alleles does this population have? Based on your numbers from part a, calculate the following frequencies, and give a written description of each (i.e. what does each number mean in “real world”...
Alpha thalassemia is a recessive trait in humans. Affected individuals suffer from anemia, weakness, and fatigue. A man and a woman are unaffected but are heterozygous for the normal and mutant alleles i.e they are carries. Based on mendel's law 1/4 of the children are unaffected. If they have five children, what is the probability of them having one affected and four unaffected children, in any order?
a) The trait for eye color in a population has two alleles at one locus. The frequency of the homozygous dominant is 0.1521. If the population is in Hardy-Weinburg equilibrium, what is the frequency of the recessive allele in the population? b) The trait for lactose tolerance in a population has two alleles at one locus. The lactose tolerance trait is dominant and the lactose intolerance is recessive. The frequency of the lactose tolerance phenotype is 0.75. If the population...
If the pedigree shown is for an autosomal recessive trait, what are the genotypes of individuals II-1, II-6 and II-9, where A- is not kooky and aa is kooky. | 11 2 3 Ooh 14 5 6
When X-linked traits are recessive, Group of answer choices males who express the trait must have two X chromosomes males who express the trait receive the recessive allele from their fathers males who express the trait must receive recessive alleles from both parents males who express the trait receive the recessive allele from their mothers
3. In a hypothetical population of Icelandic horses, 19% are found to have a red-based coloring, which is a recessive trait. Black-based coloring is the dominant trait. Based on this, calculate the frequency of the dominant and recessive alleles. (p and q). This is a critical calculation. Please have this question checked by a teacher prior to continuing.
