Alpha thalassemia is a recessive trait in humans. Affected individuals suffer from anemia, weakness, and fatigue. A man and a woman are unaffected but are heterozygous for the normal and mutant alleles i.e they are carries. Based on mendel's law 1/4 of the children are unaffected.

If they have five children, what is the probability of them having one affected and four unaffected children, in any order?

Use the following information to answer the next two questions. Sickle cell anemia is a disease that is caused by a mutation in the gene that produces haemoglobin. Hemoglobin carries oxygen in red blood cells. The HbA allele produces normal hemoglobin and the HbS allele produces haemoglobin that sticks together and causes red blood cells to sickle. Heterozygous individuals (HbAHbS) produce both normal and "sickle" hemoglobin so the HbA and HbS alleles are codominant. Heterozygotes do not develop sickle cell...

Assume that tail length in mice is a quantitative trait involving two genes, each with 2 alleles. One allele at each gene contributes to long tails, the other allele at each gene does not (small tails). The genes are located on different autosomes. Mice with 0 contributing alleles have tails that are 4 cm in length; mice with tails with 4 contributing alleles are 12 cm in length. Determine the phenotypic ratio from an F2 from a true breeding parent...

can someone please help me with this ? Practice Using a Punnett Square. Punnett Squares are tools to identify outcomes known genotypes. They can be used to help infer probabilities of genotypes and from a particular cross. of possible crosses between individuals of phenotypes amongst offspring lele forms "A" and "a".
