Answer #1

a. The genotypic ratio will be 1:2:1

b. The phenotypic ratio will be 1:1

These can be explained by drawing a punnet square.

Here the cross is: igf2igf2m X igf2igf2m

The the gametes produced by both the parents will be: igf2 and igf2m therefore punnet square will be as follows:

Igf2 igf2m
Igf2 igf2igf2 igf2igf2m
Igf2m igf2igf2m igf2migf2m

Here it is clear from punnet square, the genotypic ratio is 1:2:1.

The genes inherited from father will most likely be the ones that are expressed as a result of genomic imprinting. Since the alleles trom the father are the only one that will be inherited, it will produce a defective or functional protein.

I’m so confused by this, please explain Punnett Squares Reginald Punnett was a British geneticist who developed the Punnett square to explain how the chromosomes of parents cross and produce offspring. In order to solve genetics problems using a Punnett square, it is necessary to a) understand the associated vocabulary and b) understand some of the rules for solving the problems. · Before you continue with the problems below, review the meaning of the terms allele, dominant, recessive, homozygous, heterozygous,...

AL11 Activity 4: Multiple alleles with Codominance 1. Some traits in a population are determined by multiple alleles. For example, there are three alleles for Mood type in the human population (type A), P type B). and i lypeo). Different combinations of these alleles (each individual can inherit only two alleles) produce the four different blood types (phenotypes) that we are familiar with Based upon the symbols alone, what can you predict about the relationships between each of the following...

Assume that tail length in mice is a quantitative trait involving two genes, each with 2 alleles. One allele at each gene contributes to long tails, the other allele at each gene does not (small tails). The genes are located on different autosomes. Mice with 0 contributing alleles have tails that are 4 cm in length; mice with tails with 4 contributing alleles are 12 cm in length. Determine the phenotypic ratio from an F2 from a true breeding parent...
