   Amphiumidae - Four tiny useless legs with 1 to 3 toes,eel-like body.

These are aquatic salamanders.They have tiny vestigial legs.

   Plethodontidae - Have a nosolabial groove.

These are lungless salamanders.They breathe through their skin and the mucous membrane.

   Cryptobranchidae - Contains the largest living salamanders.

The chinese gaint salamander is one of the largest salamanders.It is belongs to above group.

Salamandridae - Newts are in this group

Newts are semiaquatic.They have rough-textured skin.

Ambystomatidae - Frequently paedomorphic,some times gynogenetic

   Proteidae - The mudpuppy ( necturus sp.) is in this group.

They live an entirely aquatic life.They are in rusty brown color.They are nocturnal creatures.
