Answer #1

Species are an inter-related group of organisms that exhibit similarity in features, genome and most importantly have the ability to interbreed and produce a fertile offspring.

This allows the species to propagate and produce variations that would then allow them to diversify. The variants that can then be isolated can diversify over time. If the diversification occurs to a point that the two groups can no longer interbreed to produce a fertile offspring, we say that speciation has occurred.

The isolation can occur primarily due to two reasons: geographical isolation wherein some river or mountain exists to separate the two groups and prevent them from interbreeding. Another form of isolation is reproductive isolation wherein the groups can no longer interbreed.

Thus, the given statement is false.
