Histone acetylation and deacetylation are essential parts of gene regulation. These reactions are typically catalysed by enzymes with "histone acetyl transferase" (HAT) or "histone deacetylase"(HDAC) activity. relaxed , transcriptionally active DNA referred as euchromatin. here may be due to mutation, the trascriptionally active form of DNA converted into more condensed ( tightly packed) DNA referred as heterochromatin.
