INCOMPLETE DOMINANCE

A red snapdragon is crossed with a white snapdragon. The resultant offspring gives pink progeny.

9. What are the genotypes of parents and offspring?

10. You have a pink snapdragon and a white snapdragon. You want to establish a stock of pure breeding red flowers. Outline a breeding program that will allow you to do this without buying more snapdragons.

Answer-

Incomplete dominance- After Mendel, several cases were recorded where F1 hybrids were not related to either of the parents but the F1 hybrids in heterozygous condition show an intermediate phenotype. It means that two genes of allelomorphic pair are not related as dominant and recessive.

Explanation of all answers is given below:

Genotype RR Phenotype Red Pink white - Rr ror parental RR X rer gametes R2 Pink & senotype of parents Red white Pink RR ror R

A researcher decided to perform a dihybrid cross with the above characters and obtained all pink, tall snapdragons (F1). It was then decided to perform across with members of the F1 generation.
