Consider the motor loop through the basal ganglia . Which of the following is the functional consequence of cortical activation of the putamen?

Correct option is

inhibition of globus pallidus.

Explanation :- when cortical activation occurs, it excites the putamen neurons which then inhibit globus pallidus neurons which then release the cells in VLo from inhibition allowing them to become active.

The activity of VLo increases the activity ofSMA.
