Question 46: Starch

Explaination: During winter generally reindeer feed lichen which has very less amount of protein availaibility. This generally contains a type of carbohydrate. Starch is a complex carbohydrates.The microbial community of reindeer usages this carbohydrates in winter. In winter reindeer requires a rich diet which contains a energy and must be easily digestable. Therefore they generally prefer to eat these lichen in winter season. So the presence of starch in this diet is used up by microbual community to breakdown.
