The data below is from a series of two-point crosses.

  1. Use the recombination frequencies to construct a genetic map of all three genes.

pr – adp          21%

pr – vg             29%

vg – adp          8%

  1. A fourth gene, cv, is found to have 4% recombination when tested with pr. Next you plan to test cv and adp. Predict the outcome of the cross between cv and adp.

Answer #1

Answer:

a). Recombination frequency (%) = Distance between genes (mu)

Genetic map: pr------21mu------adp----8mu-----vg

b).

After inserting cv in the genetic map, now see below genetic map of all 4 genes.

pr--4--cv----17--adp-8—vg

Now the distance between cv and adp is 17 mu and ther outcome of the cross between cv and adp is 17%.
