BIRTH DEFECTS
Birth defects can be described as a medical problem that arise on or before birth of a baby. It can affect any part of the body, which will lead to improper working of body or change in looks. The baby with birth defect may also have lack of mental development. The total appearance of the child affect by this depends on which body part it affects and the type of birth diffect.
There are various causes which results the birth defects. It can be genitical, exposure to certain chemicals and radiation, lifestyle, infections during pregnancy and all. Most of the defects are caused during the early stage of pregnancy, which means the first 3 months. Some defects are caused during the late stage of pregnancy. The defects due to genetics is caused when either father or mother pass abnormalities to baby or when mutations happens. The defects due to this cannot be solved. And it cannot be prevented. Some bad practices inlife style may also affect this to a greater extent. Alcohol consumption , smoking using drugs during pregnancy may also result in birth defects. Exposure of radiation may also cause problems.
Birth defects can be classified into 2
1- structural defect where some body part is missing or not work properly.
2 - functional defect where body part doesn't function properly. This includes sensory problems and nervous system problems.
The treatment for this may vary with the level of severity. Some can be cured before birth or short time after birth. Some other are not exposed. But secer cases will last for life long.
