About 24 endocrine disruptors have been studied. Most common of them are PCB and dioxins. These endocrine disruptors are found in the pesticide. Some flame retardant, BPA, some perflourinated chemicals, and phytoestrogens acts as the endocrine disruptors.
Mechanism of Action:- These endocrine disruptors mimics or partially mimics the naturally occuring endocrine hormones like the estrogen, androgen and thyroid stimulating hormones. They will bind to the receptor site in the cell and prevent the binding of the other endocrine hormones. Thus they will disrupts their activity.
